Fertilizer is widely used in agricultural applications, including paddy (rice) field. Although the productivity can be largely enhanced, the fertilizer effluent may pollute water body and threaten the wildlife and even human drinking water. We are developing a dual nitrification-denitrification bio fuel cell to remove the fertilizer derived nitrogen.
