Methanol Fuel Cell Architecture

Energy Conversion

Methanol fuel cells convert chemical energy of methanol into electric power. On the other hand, air is required as an oxidant to complete the reaction. We developed air-breath type methanol fuel cell to simplify its architecture and reduce the cost.

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are devices that convert bacterial energy (generated by the metabolism of organic substrates), into electrical energy. Three main types of bio fuel cells can be distinguished: photoautotrophic-type biofuel cells, heterotrophic-type biofuel cells and sediment biofuel cells.
